What truly sets Le Clos Barrat apart is the way you feel completely immersed in nature. The campsites are not strictly separated from one another, which gives you the sense of camping right in the heart of nature. The grounds feel spacious, natural, and free. At the same time, you still enjoy the comfort and amenities you’d expect from a three-star campground. It’s the perfect blend of peace, space, and convenience.

What kind of guests usually visit Le Clos Barrat?

Most of our guests are couples whose children have already left home. They deliberately choose a quiet, nature-focused vacation and often stay for a longer period; on average about two to three weeks. Our visitors come from various countries: many are from the Netherlands and Belgium, a small number from the UK, and of course, some from France as well.

What are some recommended things to do in the area around Le Clos Barrat?

A visit to Château de Bonaguil is an absolute must. This impressive medieval castle is just a short distance from the campground and makes a big impression with its towers, thick walls, and rich history. You’ll need at least an afternoon to take it all in, as it’s a place that invites exploration and wonder.
We’re also located in the beautiful Cahors wine region, famous for its Malbec wines. So, for wine lovers, a tasting or a visit to one of the many local wineries is a must.
If you love heritage and historic architecture, the surrounding medieval villages are a delight to visit. Many are perched on hilltops and offer not only history but also breathtaking views of the landscape. This region is perfect for exploring, hiking, and simply enjoying life at a slower pace.

Do you have plans for the future?

Yes! We plan to add several eco-lodges to the campground to offer guests accommodations that are close to nature yet provide all the comfort they need.

Do you have a motto at Le Clos Barrat?

Yes, we like to say: “Écoutez les papillons chanter”; listen to the butterflies sing. It may sound poetic, but it perfectly expresses what we aim to offer here. It’s an invitation to slow down, to be fully present, and to experience nature with all your senses. When you’re sitting quietly in a meadow or lying under a tree, with no distractions from the outside world, you can hear the whisper of nature. And maybe, just maybe, the butterflies singing. That’s the magic of Le Clos Barrat.
