Western Sunfolk was founded in 1935 and is the second-oldest naturist club in the United Kingdom. From the very beginning, the club had a committee made up of an equal number of men and women.
Remarkably progressive for its time, considering that women in the UK only gained equal voting rights in 1928. It shows that equality and mutual respect have been at the heart of naturism from the start.
The club is still entirely member-run. We continue to cherish the traditions of friendliness, equality, and respect for nature; values that lie at the core of the naturist lifestyle.
Naturism in the heart of Wales
Western Sunfolk is located just over the border with England, in a beautiful part of Wales. Its location makes the club easy to reach, while still being surrounded by nature. Within a short distance you’ll find the impressive Welsh mountains, the beaches of the Gower Peninsula, and the picturesque Wye Valley.
The site itself is surrounded by conservation areas with wonderful walking and cycling trails. In the nearby countryside you can also discover ancient Celtic standing stones, a fascinating feature for anyone interested in culture and history during their naturist holiday.
Facilities and activities
Our swimming pool is our pride and joy. On sunny days the cover can be opened for a true outdoor feeling, while on rainy days it offers a cozy and sheltered place to swim or relax; always in the free and natural atmosphere that naturism is all about.
On weekends, members come together for a wide range of activities: music evenings, quizzes, darts, billiards and table tennis, as well as light fitness sessions with music. There are also friendly coffee mornings and social drinks, always with space for good conversation and laughter. Families are very welcome too, there is a safe and fun play area for children.
A warm community
Western Sunfolk is not just a naturist club, but above all a welcoming community of people who enjoy spending time together and treat one another with respect. Just a short walk away you’ll also find a traditional Welsh pub, serving excellent food and often hosting live music; the perfect addition to a relaxing stay.
During the winter months we upgraded the site with six new hard standings for motorhomes. In spring we added a traditional skittle alley in a large marquee. Western Sunfolk continues to evolve, while staying true to its rich history and naturist values.
