Naturist camping Le Coteau de l’Herm

“On our way to the campsite, we saw wild boars and deer, amazing! Tomorrow is our last relaxing day on our little hill (coteau). This campsite is a fantastic little paradise, but it’s about to be sold and turned into a textile campsite.

In the mornings we take nude walks through the forest, pick up fresh bread at the bar, sunbathe, swim, lounge in a deck chair, drink coffee, read a book - the peace and quiet is heavenly. I collect things for my flower press. Secretly, I want to preserve a piece of paradise…”

This is what I, Manja, wrote in my travel journal during our last stay at the campsite. Together with my husband Aschwin, I spent some of our best vacations here, and the idea of this wonderful place disappearing truly broke our hearts. But what could we do?

A few years later, we sold our house, and just at that time, we heard that the campsite still hadn’t been sold. Jaap and Shirley Overdulve, who built the campsite themselves over twenty years ago, had one big wish: for their life’s work to continue as a naturist campsite. We explored the possibilities together and decided to take the leap. After quitting our jobs, packing up our home, and saying goodbye to family and friends, we left for France in March 2018.

There wasn’t much time to reflect. We had to visit the notary, attend training courses for hygiene certification and serving alcohol, and - most importantly - prepare the campsite for opening. Guests were due in April, and after the winter, there’s always a lot to do: removing weeds, fallen branches, and leaves, unpacking and cleaning everything after winter storage. We also wanted to freshen things up a bit and add our own touch. It was quite a task, but thanks to the help of dear friends and family, we pulled it off.

Naturistische camping Le Coteau de l’Herm

Le Coteau de l’Herm is a small-scale naturist campsite set on 8 hectares, with 50 spacious sites. In one of the most beautiful spots on the terrain, about 30 meters from the bathhouse with clean sanitary facilities and hot showers, are two rustic chalets with stunning views over the valley. They are peaceful, fully equipped for two people, and have a nearby water tap and everything you need to cook. On the terrace, there are two parasols and two lounge chairs; let the enjoyment begin!

We also offer a charming guest room (chambre) with two Auping beds, a private bathroom, a small garden, and a covered veranda.
Upon arrival, we personally welcome you with a tour of the campsite so you can get settled on the site of your choice.

Sun or shade, or a bit of both? A spot for your hammock? Or something wilder? It’s all here.

Everyone feels at home here. Small children have plenty of space and the terrain is safe and easy to navigate. For guests with disabilities, there’s an adapted bathroom facility. We often welcome couples who are new to naturism. The privacy and relaxed atmosphere let you feel comfortable and truly experience freedom in your own way.

The Dordogne is pure and laid-back, with a pleasant climate. Here, you can enjoy vast views, peace, and silence; sunbathing and swimming right in the heart of nature. It’s this combined with the friendly atmosphere that makes this place so special. Making connections comes naturally; you’ll be chatting, laughing, and enjoying meals outdoors like one big family in no time. Watch the dazzling colors of the sunset, and end the evening with a drink under a starry sky, serenaded by the magical sound of owls.

A naturist walking trail winds through the campsite with panoramic views over forest paths and sunlit meadows filled with fruit trees, blackberries, figs, and raspberries. You’ll find wild orchids, various butterflies, and even the rare hoopoe bird with its striking crown.
In the surrounding area, there are numerous wonderful hiking and biking routes. Bring your own bike or rent an e-bike in the village to explore short or long tours.
